THE CHALLENGE OF BEING LOCKED INTO ONE SUPPLIER
The familiarity of an ongoing supplier relationship can be a positive experience. However, this relationship can become difficult to manage when aspects of this partnership go sour. Customers often struggle with this scenario while dissatisfied with their suppliers, debating whether the time and money required to switch suppliers is truly worthwhile.
A recent Motion customer experienced this with their crimper and hose supplier. Their supplier had enforced 12 price increases from 2021 to 2022. By January 2022, the customer was ready to make a change. Their fear of lost time and added costs was the only thing holding them back.

SWITCH CRIMPERS TO SAVE TIME & MONEY
WHY THE CUSTOMER SWITCHED TO MOTION
To help this customer convert from their previous crimper and hose brand, Motion collaborated with one of our top fluid power suppliers to create a strategic pricing plan for the customer. Together, we provided the customer with a cost-savings analysis of over 20%.
Motion also worked with this supplier to provide conversion kits for the customer’s existing crimpers. These kits allowed the customer to replace their current crimpers’ shrouds, spacer plates, pressure plates and K-Series dies with equipment to crimp the Motion supplier’s hose assemblies. This limited the costly downtime often associated with converting to a new supplier.
The combination of cost savings, quick conversion and added quality service provided by Motion and the new supplier convinced this customer to finally make the switch.
HOW SWITCHING TO MOTION HELPED OUR CUSTOMER
According to Billy VanKemseke, Regional Sales Manager for Motion, this transition has been incredibly successful. The customer claims their new supplier’s adjustable crimper tool is much easier to use than their previous supplier’s. They also appreciate the added resources unique to working with Motion.
